Roster Debate: Runningbacks

  • Here are the listed halfbacks with the team:
    Chris Johnson
    Javon Ringer
    LeGarrette Blount
    Samkon Gado
    Alvin Pearman

    The Fullbacks:
    Ahmard Hall
    Jed Collins

I don't think there is a question of who makes fullbacks. Hall has the job hands down. The Halfback is a little more tricky. They will probably keep 3-4 halfbacks and Gado and Blount are both playing great. Then you have Alvin Pearman, who plays special teams very well.

So which runningbacks don't make it?

  • Johnson and Ringer are in. Look for Blount to make the team and if the keep a fourth halfback it will be Pearman.

Blount has the talent to be the backup over Ringer.

Johnson and Ringer, as you say, are locks. I think they will decide between Gado and Blount for the third spot. There's a chance they would try to sneak Blount to the practice squad, but if he shows a lot in the next two preseason games, it may be hard to push him through waivers. Pearman has no shot, because his hope was on returns, and both Williams and Mariani have passed him by.

TitanInsider: Any closer and you'd be in the huddle.

Hasn't Pearman been a factor on kick coverage, while Gado and Blount both don't play on special teams? If that is the case the 4th runningback, which is never used, would go to Pearman right?

Gado supposedly is a pretty good special teams player. Both he and Blount spent some time on coverage units against the Cards.

  • Hoping it's both Blount and Gado if we keep 4, I liked what I saw from both, Mariani and Williams sealed P's fate.

Can't see them keeping four RBs, unless the fourth (Blount) goes on practice squad.

They had four last year... if they keep a 4th this year, barring injury, I don't see him getting on the active roster.
