Titans' extra kicker/punter Ricky Schmidt, who was likely playing in his final preseason game with roster cuts looming on Tuesday, won't play against the Carolina Panthers because of lower back problems.
Schmidt had a good night punting and kicking in the preseason opener against Seattle, but had little chance of unseating kicker Rob Bironas or punter Brett Kern.
