Should VY have been yanked? Yes or no

  • Weigh in with your opinions on this. I think it was evident from the playcalling that the coaching staff had lost faith that Young could win the game for them on Sunday.
That said, you know you are dealing with a QB who has a fragile psyche so I think it might have been better to ride out the storm with him and not open the can of worms by putting Collins in.

TitanInsider: Any closer and you'd be in the huddle.

  • Yup. No doubt. Turnovers were killing the team. Unfortunately for the Titans, the giveaways continued with Collins in the game, too.

Fisher definitely made the right call.

  • My thing is, I think VY and Collins are treated differently. Should he have been in the game to finish it out, that's up to the coaching staff. Sometimes I don't thnk it's his fault as much as people talk about it. I mean these coaches develop a game plan that should exploit his talents. Sometimes I feel they hinder him more and the don't use as many plays as they do with Collins. I mean Kerry comes in the game and he gets 4 wide sets. When Vince is in the game, you might see Scaife in the slot. I don't want to make this an issue, but it has been a issue in this city for a long time. I always thought when you drafted a QB, you try to fit him into your system and if he doesn't fit in there then you surround him with talent. The titans haven't done that at all since VY has been there. That loss to the Steelers was more of a team thing than a VY thing. Yes he made mistakes. But so did everyone else. CJ wasn't running hard and missing blocks. The line wasn't there at all. Dropped passes. I mean there are so many factors that contributed to the loss. It is just a shame that we as a society always blames one person for a team effort. Everyone is entitled to a bad game. But at the same time, everyone is entitled to fight through adversity. Only time will tell if Vince will recover from this and will continue to be the Titans QB now and into the future.

  • What happened the first couple of series when they inserted Collins? You could bring a rusty knife to a gun fight and maybe get a slash or two....However that knife when facing the odds versus the gun will still experience a loss....Now putting VY out there with over drawn up plays like this is Madden 2011 will also get you the same result as the rusty knife......POW......Sack, Fumble.......Message: hate the gameplan and not the player.

  • Fisher made the right move. Young had never played a defense as intricate as the Steelers. Collins had. Its as simple as that. Collins gave them the best chance to win and he almost did it.

    Blaize Pennington

  • Fisher made the right move by default.....They went into the game with faulty gameplan.....when that fell a apart he went to panic mode....The whole offense played like crap....they were running with no tight ends against 8 in the box....Dick went outside the box and came with complete change to stop VY........See NFL.com

  • You had to pull him. Not because he couldn't get it done but because he wasn't getting it done. He had a bad day Fisher sent in the reliever. I have no issue with that. The talk of putting VY in a 4 wide formation for most of the game makes me cringe. No telling how many turnovers he may have had. That's just not were his skills lie. He's the type of QB that is good on the move.

Roll him out of the pocket make teams worry about him pulling it and running. If the defense pulls up thinking he's running he does have the ability to hit a deep wideout. But he'll never pick'em apart like manning.
