Thousand times yes.
1. Defensive end is the Titans greatest need and there's a good deal of risk in picking a defensive end at #20 in this year's draft. (including uncertainty of available players)
2. The Titans need a lot of depth and would even benefit from having an additional two quality defensive ends. (Williams and a 1st/2nd round draft pick).
3. Mario Williams is a proven, former first overall draft pick who is in his prime (27 years old) and isn't a guy who is on his 3rd or 4th contract like most players who hit free agency.
4. Mario Williams is the perfect schematic fit. He's an impact player in both the run and pass game.
5. The Titans have the cap space to sign him, particularly with Finnegan not being resigned. Further, with the cap projected to increase by a healthy amount in the next few years the Titans can sign him before there's a cap floor and the average contract cost rises. (think inflation in the economy.) Therefore the Titans would be getting more value in the next five years than one would expect.
