That's a tough one right off the bat. I know Cortland wants to stay, but the Titans will draw a line in the sand with what they are willing to play. Quite frankly, with the way he plays, if he has leaves, I could see him land with the Baltimore Ravens, who showed Sunday they need help at cornerback.

TitanInsider: Any closer and you'd be in the huddle.

Just a tighter ship all the way around. He makes the players dress in ties and jackets for road trips, has cut out the loud music in the locker room (although it on the field sometimes as background music). He has also brought in coaches who work hard and are not complacent.
Fisher had gotten far too comfortable and lax in his approach and quite frankly had no one in the building to challenge his authority.
Also, Munch won't harbor drama queens and malcontents. He's an o-lineman and those guys have a blue collar in the trenches approach anyway and that's how he has taken the reins here.

It's possible this is the week, but it could be one of those deals where he is bottled up for several games, then all of a sudden it clicks and he has 170 yards with a couple of long runs.

  • How big of a difference has Hasselbeck made on the field and in the locker room?

  • Is Palmer's offensive philosophy a better fit for the Titans than the one Heimerdinger used?

No one is going to confuse Matt with Brady or Rodgers, but he is a significant upgrade at QB over what they have had. He's also a very even-keeled guy who isn't afraid to lead, which is what a QB has to do. VY was too inconsistent on any number of fronts to lead, although he said he wanted to lead. Collins was quiet and didn't step up vocally to lead. He was a lead by example guy.
On the field, it's been a good marriage so far, because part of Hasselbeck's problem in Seattle was a terrible o-line that couldn't keep him healthy, and he can get the ball to playmakers like Britt and Cook down the field.

  • Will CJ having more rest at the beginning of the season have an impact during a playoff push?

I know he hasn't been injury plagued, but it seems like the extra rest could help him.

It's early, but I think so. Remember, Dinger was handcuffed by Fisher a lot of times. I think Mike wanted to throw the ball more than he got to, but two things prevented that - Fisher's desire to use the running game more than the pass, and the fact that a QB like VY wasn't trustworthy enough to put the game in his hands on a consistent basis.

Sure, any carries he doesn't have now will be less tread off the tires at the the year, but let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. This team still has a lot of improving to do before it's a playoff team.

I think he can be a very effective player, if he can stay healthy. That said, there is a lot of competition at the end position in the AFC, and it might be a while before he heads to Hawaii.

  • How serious is Britt's hamstring issue right now? The team has publicly stated that it's not a game day issue but considering how productive and important he is, it seems like an issue for real concern.

Any chance they limit his practice time each week so that he can suit up on Sundays with extra rest?

    Cyrus

  • Is it too early to predict that the Titans use their 1st or 2nd round pick next year on a strong safety? Or at least upgrade via FA? I feel as if Jerry Gray would like his own version of a Blaine Bishop. Your thoughts?

I was told by an inside source that they believe Britt will be OK. I can see the need for limiting his reps, but in truth, Kenny is not enough of a wily veteran yet that he can execute the game plan without some practice. (Although he and Hasselbeck have quickly gotten on the same page). Trust me, there are people here who believe that Britt can be the next superstar receiver in this league, but he has to stay healthy and committed.

  • Outside of a missed tackle on a screen play for a TD, Babineaux seemed like an upgrade over Hope. Will the team give Hope another week off to see how Babineaux performs?

Somewhere in between, I would say. The next three weeks will do a lot to show us exactly who the Titans are. Winnable games against Broncos and Browns and then a big test at Pittsburgh.

  • Are the Titans pretty happy with their 53 right now?

    titans4life

  • That position becomes a much bigger need, because Hope probably walks and they have to re-sign Griffin or get two new guys. Should be interesting, and yes I can see a high pick used there.

I think Munch is an old school guy who doesn't like guys to lose their job due to injury. He praised Hope's play in the opener. I think the job probably goes back to him with Babineaux in his utility role. That said, they will wait till Chris is 100%, so Babineaux could get the nod this week.
