  • I'm hoping CJ and the run game get something going against the Colts this week. I want CJ to succeed, unlike some. But how many more sub-40 yard games before he gets demoted to situational player? Or how many more sub-40 yard games before Velasco replaces Amano?

    owenstg

  • Another Question: Will the Titans consider Bringing in Chris Harris, as he was just waived by the Bears? I know he's slowed down, but is great at forcing fumbles and in run support. Babs has been struggling in run support the last two games and CHope is still injured. Harris could provide good depth or be a situational player at worst in Gray's scheme. He's not long removed from All-Pro status.

It doesn't sound like Munchak is open to change right now, especially on the O-line. But I wouldn't be surprised if Ringer or Harper get a chance to pick up some carries if CJ struggles this week.

Grabbing players who have been cut in the middle of a season is a risky proposition sometimes. Hope will be back soon. Gray would have to believe that Harris would fit his system. The guess here is no, unless another injury comes into play soon.

  • Another personnel question: Jake Scott is generally a pretty good pass protector, but was abused last week by JJ Watt. He was also bad in the run game, and that's never been his strength. However, he is a savvy veteran and a leader on offense. Do you think the Titans will try to bring him back for a reasonable contract this offseason or do they try to upgrade either with existing depth or via free agency?

  • I'm concerned about two straight blowouts losses. Do you think Munchak is in over his head as head coach?

    JVVol

  • My guess is they would probably let him go. Unless an o-lineman is a star (Hopkins, Roos, Bruce Matthews), they generally move on. I would guess that next year Velasco gets his shot.

  • I know you've been asked about Locker's development before. But since you guys have access to practice (I know you can't share too much), but specifically, how has Jake Locker looked? Still up and down? Is his accuracy still an issue?

  • Where has the pass rush been the last two games?

No. I just think this team is limited in terms of personnel, especially with Britt out and CJ not playing well. The defense really does not have a lot of individual playmakers anywhere and has to function as a complete unit in order to have success. Finnegan is probably the closest thing they have to a defensive playmaker.

He is still up and down. I think he will make a big step forward once he has a full off-season. AFter seeing him in practice, I do think he might be better served with a full year to watch. That said, the kid is a gamer and seems to do better in game situations than he's looked in practice at times.

Where has the pass rush been the last two games?

Virtually non-existent. They claimed that the Steelers did a lot of max protect, only sending two into the routes. As for what happened against Houston, I thought they should have tried to manufacture some pressure with a couple of blitzes with Schaub having a sore hip, but they only rushed four most of the time and without any success.

  • What's the real story on CJ's lack of production so far this year?

    PapaTitan

  • What are the chances that we'll see more of Ringer this week?

    Dan Cotton

  • On the subject of pressure, I thought Jerry Gray was going to be blitzing a lot and stuff like that since our D-Line is supposedly built to stop the run. The Titans have blitzed the least of all NFL teams so far this season. I find that odd. Maybe Gray's just trying to keep it really simple with a new defensive system and the lockout and all?

  • Who is more likely to get franchise tagged this offseason? Cortland Finnegan or Michael Griffin? Both tags are fairly steep and Griff is not worth 8.8 mil for a season at this point imo. Finnegan's tag will be more like 12-13 million though, which is pretty ridiculous.

As I reported after Sunday's game, my sources said CJ did not come in in the best of shape. There are also whispers that he isn't running as hard as he did when he had something to prove, but I have no proof of that other than what you see on the field, which is purely speculation. The o-line shares in some of the blame, and keep in mind, that CJ is having to adapt to a new offensive system and coordinator and he's on his fourth RB coach in four years.
There is also the theory (and the conditioning may be tied to this) that the 2,000-yard season took its toll on him from so many carries and that maybe he just isn't as fast and elusive as he used to be. Someone pointed out that his last 50-yard run was the season opener of 2010. That was 21 games ago.

CJ probably carries the load against the pitiful Colts run defense. But if he can't make it happen vs. them, then I think Ringer will be in the mix more down the line.

That is probabaly part of it. they have been playign a lot of zone and cover two behind the pass rush as well. I thought Jerry would dial up more Gregg Williams type stuff than he has.

  • Finnegan. Griffin has been inconsistent this year, which is surprising given that it's a contract year.

  • Why hasn't Palmer gotten Cook involved more early to get him going?

  • Are the Titans confident in Kevin Matthews' progression? Any idea how much the Titans like him?

That's is the million dollar question. I thought when Britt went down that Cook was the logical successor to be a go-to guy. Part of it is that he isn't on the field enough. Stevens and/or Graham get most of the reps when it's a running situation. But I do think it's time to sacrifice some of that to get the ball in a potential playmaker's hands five or six times a game.
