Titans 18th in latest USA Today Power Rankings

  • Down two spots from last week. Really surprised to see the Texans ranked so high.

NFL power rankings: Aaron Rodgers, Packers cool at No. 1 - USATODAY.com

The Green Bay Packers claimed the top spot in USA TODAY's NFL power rankings heading into the regular season. The Indianapolis Colts, Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints were close on their heels.

  • Outside of the local reporters, attentive fans and a select amount of national guys there aren't really many names that many (so-called) NFL analysts recognize. The Titans may have one of the deepest defensive lines in the NFL, a mostly unheralded offensive line and one of the deepest wide receiver corps in Tennessee for a while but there's no amount of familiarity to the national press.

I don't expect too much respect for a team that underachieved last season and has a lot of unproven guys but there's no doubt that the Titans are flying under the radar.

    Well said Cyrus.

  • We underperformed last year, and lost some key pieces to our defense. Even though we had an 8-2 run at the end of the year, many experts say it wasn't against "quality teams."

The Titans have not given the experts any reason to believe in us yet, and frankly I like it like that. We weren't expected to win the AFC South a couple of years ago... and what did we do? Ever since I started being a fan, the Titans have played better under the radar.

With an underrated defensive line, and an almost brand new linebacking corps, the Titans defense doesn't look good on paper. It also doesn't help that we still haven't settled our second cornerback position. There is no question our offense should be a force to be reckoned with this year if Vince continues to play smart, but considering our best known wide receiver is Nate Washington, and that was only because he was a third receiver as a Steeler.

I don't pay much attention to rankings, but I believe we will do just fine this year.
