Titans apparently didn't want to fight possible receiver designation with tag.
TitanInsider: Any closer and you'd be in the huddle.
I like the move. The Titans did not want to fight the WR/TE thing in arbritration.
Cook and the Titans must be far apart on his value and or a long term deal.Arbitration would most likley have meant that they needed 11 mil set aside cap wise and would AGAIN be hampered in free agency. If Cook had got tagged,he still would most likley have held out until late in camp and shown up the week before the season started not knowing the new offense, which is another learning curve. The Titans probably have an agreement that Cooks agent gives them a call and a chance to match an offer he receives. We just need to go out and find a balanced TE,who can block and catch and not break the bank.
