Yeah, easy to do.....just peel off the words Young and put Locker on that shiny Titans jersey and you're good to go. haha

  • I hope the Titans bring Locker along slowly. They don't need to throw him out there too early like they did Young. Let him come in late in the season and get some pt. He sounds like he could become a really good qb, who we could enjoy having for years to come. I am not expecting the Titans to move out of the AFC South cellar right away and I hope the rest of the fans don't either. I like the idea of getting good character guys who are dedicated to the game. I think Munchak likes him a lot, which is very important to a coach/player relationship.

  • How can someone not like the pick. We needed a QB and as the draft unfolded after the Titans picked it was clear that the QB that they wanted would not be there in the second round. Plus if Locker would have come out last year he would have been the first QB taken. So in other words I like the pick a lot.

  • Memphistiger you are absolutely right and as I've been speculating for months there are still really good defensive players on the board for 39. If we went defense first we would of had to give up picks to move up or just not get a good qb. Giving up picks is a bad idea in a deep defensive draft. Love the pick this is going to be a good and deep draft with quality guys filling the locker room.

I think there are different ways of looking at the Locker pick. Taking Locker at number #8 is going to place pressure on the Titans to play him, TOO soon. I think Jake is a fine enough qb, but he will need some time to develop. Taking a dominate stud like Fairley would have solved a lot of the problems on defense. A dl player is going to show faster returns. You take a developmental qb in round two. The pressure then to play him is not going to be high, so you can bring him along in your new offense at your pace. Locker will be faced with learning a new offense along with the rest of the team. Growing pains everywhere.

On the other hand, could be the Titans see special potential in Locker. Next year, when he in his second season he will be familiar with the new offense and the surrounding talent. They then grab the big defensive stud that will be available with their high pick in 2012. The Titans know what players will be coming out in 2012, maybe there is not a lot of qb talent after Luck. Whoever they could get then would still have to be brought along slowly. So, get it done now.

It will be several years before we know whether this was the correct move or not. My initial thoughts are the good teams don't reach for players. The Titans have shown a propensity for reaching, usually in the second round. Calico, Troupe, Henry and paying big for Cook while proclaiming he can't learn the plays.

  • Not sure why everyone thinks Locker at 8 is a reach. Reinfeldt says the Vikings would have taken him at 12, and that's consistent with what I was hearing from sources leading up to the draft, even if Gabbert was still on the board.

  • From the people I've talked to, the thing they love as much as anything about Locker is his intangibles. His work ethic and personality are off the charts. He is so opposite of VY they should give him jersey No. "01" to show just how different he is. Locker may or may not become a solid NFL quarterback, but if he doesn't pan it, it will be for a completely different set of reasons than the ones that caused VY to wash out.

  • He'll be fine and it will be known sooner rather then later. This team is stocked with some good offensive talent and now we have. a talented qb that cares enough to prepare for the defenses he's going to see week in and week out. Maybe now the 3-4 won't be our kryptonite.
