Titans interested in trading for Brandon Lloyd

  • According to the Denver Post, via rotoworld.com:

"Citing three NFL sources, the Denver Post reports the Broncos have placed WR Brandon Lloyd on the trading block.
The asking price is a draft pick in the Round 3-5 range. "Three or four" teams have expressed interest, including the Titans and Panthers. As a 30-year-old coming off a career season and set to hit free agency in 2012, Lloyd is an obvious trade candidate for a rebuilding team. With Demaryius Thomas and Eddie Royal returning from injuries, there's depth at the position while the offenses goes into ball control mode under Tim Tebow."

Terry, heard anything on this? Is the Titans interest legit?

  • Here's a story from PFT.

Broncos put Brandon Lloyd on the trading block | ProFootballTalk

It looks like we'll actually have an interesting name to talk about leading up to the NFL trading deadline. Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports that the Broncos have been in talks with teams regarding wide receiver Brandon Lloyd.

  • Lloyd lead the NFL in receiving with 1,448 yards to go with 11 touchdowns in 2010.

    Dan Cotton

  • So the Broncos are looking for a third to fifth round pick in return. Reinfeldt time to pull the trigger and make the trade happen.

  • I like the idea of Lloyd in two tone blue.

    PapaTitan

  • This is a guy we need to get now, he's worth a third or fourth round pick.

    sgtfoley

  • Can't pass up a guy like this at that price. Pull the trigger Titans we need him.

    DJ_Balogh

  • Wyatt doesn't seem to think a deal will get done for Lloyd. How about you, Terry?

  • I hate trading draft picks. Especially for a one year rental. With Britt out it could really help short term. Love the idea, but those 3-4th rd picks are valuable. With the guys we've got under contract at WR I would doubt Lloyd would consider signing with us after this year, but he's a guy I would like to have for a couple more years if at all possible.

My best guess... MR values draft picks to much to pull the trigger on this one.

Checking on this. Mike Klis is pretty reputable. But I'm a little skeptical that a deal gets done. Remember, the Titans have already dealt one draft pick for Quinn Johnson so if they trade for Lloyd, it would be two picks gone in 2012. I think the Titans are discussing the possibility of such a thing, but talking about it and doing it are two extremely different things.

TitanInsider: Any closer and you'd be in the huddle.

Terry, I thought the pick for Quinn Johnson was conditional if he played in five games and he only played in four.

    it was a conditional pick.

  • Yeah, Titans don't have to surrender anything in 2012 for QJ from what I understand.

  • I'm guessing that the determining factor is whether a "reasonable" long term deal can be signed before the trade is made..

I wonder if the Titans might be looking at him as a rent-a-player like Moss last year. He is 30-years old and really is a one-year wonder with last year being his only big year.
