In less than a week's time, from when the Arizona Cardinals were in town for a preseason game and a stay-over practice against the Titans, a lot has happened to quarterback Matt Leinart.
First, he threw for just 28 yards on Monday Night Football, then got picked on his first two passes on 7-on-7 drills here in Nashville, and now, he has been benched in favor of Derek Anderson.
Titans' QB Vince Young, who considers his old Rose Bowl rival a good friend, said after practice that he knew what Leinart was going through and that he had sent him a text with encouraging words.
"I told him to stay focused and stay ready," said Young, who added that Leinart had a lot of different things going on his life, so he wanted to reach out to him.
Hard to believe how much has changed since that memorable Rose Bowl game. Young is now 26-13 as a starting quarterback in the NFL, and Leinart is just trying to hang on to his starting spot. He only had one start last season and it was the 20-17 heart breaking loss, where Young lead the Titans on a 99-yard game winning drive.
Young went on to say after practice that Leinart, "would be all right and that these are things quarterbacks have to go through."

TitanInsider: "Any closer and you'd be in the huddle."
Nice gesture by VY.
247Sports: Your team all the time.
Can't say that I like VY but that was a cool move.
Though the Trojan Empire and its Followers may last for a thousand years, men will still say, "This was their finest hour."
