Way to Early Preseason Projections

  • Lets here them guys, how well do you see us doing this year (this is assuming we don't miss any games to the Lockout).

I think we have some growing pains and win about 8 or 9 games this year.

    How about you guys?

  • I'm always an overly optimistic homer, so I'm betting on 10-6. biggrin

More realistically, I bet we go 5-11 or 6-10. CJ will win us at least a couple games. We should be able to destroy Houston this year since they switched to a 3-4. They have absolutely no personnel for that defense. In fact, they had one of the best front 7 corps for a 4-3 in the NFL. Ridiculous that they are throwing away that kind of potential. Good for us though.

True that their personnel seem to be misfits for the 3-4, but they do have a few guys like Brian Cushing and Antonio Smith who will transition well. And plus, Wade Phillips is a defensive mastermind, and I think will have them low-middle-groundish in the defensive standings.

  • But anyway! I've been predicting 8 and 8, while the scheme change will be painful, we'll see some early benefits to being out from under Fisher's uncreative philosophy and an offensive staff that didn't run screens because "there were too many moving parts."

  • 5-11. Late start to camp because of lockout will make what would have already been a difficult transition next to impossible.

Locker takes lots and lots of lumps but will pay dividends in the future.

  • I'm afraid 2011 has 6-10 written all over it.

  • Somewhere between 5-11 and 8-8 depending on how the rest of the division shapes up outside of the Colts.

  • I could really see anything from 4-7 wins. To be frank though, it would probably be good for the Titans to have another draft near the top where the team has the chance to grab a real impact player.

You're definitely right about needing another high draft pick. I just hate watching rebuilding seasons where we are just playing for the high pick. If it helps long-term, I can deal with it long-term. Short-term is the problem.

  • I think the days of picking 8-8 are probably over with Jeff Fisher out of the picture. This team will have much more discipline, and will get considerably better on defense under Gray. Cecil was soooooo far in over his head last year. With the guidance of Munchak, Matthews and Gray--the locker room will get a whole lot better too. They are still probably a year away from being a playoff team, so I'm thinking 7-9.

Totally agree. My guess is anything between 3-5 wins. This is NOT a good football team. Even last season's 5-2 start was smoke and mirrors.

This captures much of my thinking on the impact of the new staff on the on-field play and the locker room. We will be seeing the start of an era of really good and exciting football. I doubt that there are more than 7 wins this year. The start of the season will be shaky at best, but there will be definite improvements in all aspects over the course of the season. I anticipate a level of excitement unlike any we have experienced in several years as Locker begins to develop and to meld this team into "his team". P. Manning put his stamp on the Colts in his first two-three years, and Locker will do the same.

It's an exciting time for us fans, and I can't wait.

  • i think with the lockout wiping out the off-season, it's going to be a tough go early on but by year's end I think you'll see them playing better. I see a season a little like 2006 when they started out awful, but improved as the year went along. I'll say 6-10.

  • I could see a Tampa Bay like resurgence for the Titans. The Titans will likely have more than 3 wins in 2011, but I could see them going 10-6 in 2012 after a quick year of adjustment and growth.

I could see something like that as well. A lot, of course, will hinge on Locker's development. I'm of the belief that while he probably doesn't need to start the opener, if this team is 1-7 or 2-6, then let him start the final eight games and learn. Which is a good idea for a new thread. I will start one on that subject.
