They trust Bo Scaife because he's a veteran and has a great rapport with VY. They have a package in each week that involves Cook, but it doesn't always get used because of how situations play out in the game. Heimerdinger said a couple of weeks ago in a Q&A with Darren that Cook was in a tough spot because he doesn't block well enough to play in Stevens spot either. Scaife is a free agent, so he may get his shot next year.

What about putting him in the slot where blocking is not as important. Ever since we drafted him I have heard a lot about how athletic he is.

I think 2011 will be the year that everyone will know one way or the other if Cook was worth trading up to get. I think Scaife will be lost to free agency and Cook will get every opportunity to prove his worth.
The day he becomes consistent in the eyes of the coaching staff, is the day he sees the field a lot.
