Routt will visit Titans after Bills

The Tennessee Titans will host a visit with cornerback Stanford Routt, TitanInsider has confirmed.

Routt, who was released by the Oakland Raiders on Thursday, is visiting with the Buffalo Bills first and has his visit with the Titans scheduled after that. Routt's arrival in Tennessee will likely be Monday evening for a Tuesday visit.

Routt is a player the Titans liked coming out of college from the University of Houston in 2005. The Titans are looking to boost their interceptions in the secondary with new secondary coach Brett Maxie, and Routt picked off four passes last year for the Raiders.

Oakland had signed Routt to an extension last February, and then reworked the deal to add two more years last August, but the Raiders' new regime of GM Reggie McKenzie and Dennis Allen let him go on Thursday.

If the Titans are able to land Routt, it could significantly dim the chances of free agent cornerback Cortland Finnegan returning to Tennessee. Finnegan and the Titans are not close to an extension yet and have not talked since agent Terry Watson and Titans GM Ruston Webster visited briefly at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., two weeks ago.
