Titans denied permission by Jets on Callahan

As the Titans wait for Jerry Gray's final decision on being the defensive coordinator, it appears that a top choice for offensive coordinator won't be in the works at all.

As TitanInsider's Tipsheet reported, New York Jets assistant head coach Bill Callahan was one of Mike Munchak's top targets for offensive coordinator. However, ESPN is reporting that the Jets have denied Callahan permission to interview for the position that came open when Mike Heimerdinger was fired.

A source confirmed to TitanInsider on Thursday evening that one of Munchak's top choices to replace Heimerdinger was off the board for consideration.

Callahan is assistant head coach and offensive line coach for the Jets. He was head coach for the Oakland Raiders, guiding them to Super Bowl XXXVII and also spent time as head coach at the University of Nebraska.
