Javon Ringer's injury problems continue to linger, and the recipent of the running back's misfortunes could be the same man who benefited in preseason.
Jamie Harper could be in line for more carries on Sunday, if Ringer, who has been bothered by a hip pointer and now has soreness in his back, cannot go.
While Chris Johnson is still easing his way back into the lineup – Johnson will have the most of the carries, but won't be overloaded after ending his holdout – it could be Harper who sees more carries if Ringer is unable to go.
“I think Harper gets an opportunity to do a little bit more than we originally planned, and we have some other options too,” Munchak said of the what-if if Ringer isn't able to play.
Munchak added that the Titans hoped Ringer would be better by Thursday or Friday in order to be able to go. The Titans also have Herb Donaldson, who was with the club through camp and preseason, on the practice squad to bring up if need be.
Still, Harper is eager if his number is called.
“This is definitely my type of game, so hopefully, I'll be able to get some opportunities and take full advantage of it,” said the rookie, who led the Titans in preseason in rushing. “(I like) going downhill and getting nasty yards, and getting ready to pop that big one.”
