Titans quick to add guard Levitre

The Tennessee Titans have come out of the gate quickly in free agency, landing guard Andy Levitre of the Buffalo Bills.

Levitre was one of Tennessee's top targets in free agency and the deal is reportedly worth more than $46 million over six years. Tennessee's offensive line was woeful last year and the Titans are hopeful that by adding a player like Levitre could help to resolve some of those issues.

Levitre is likely to slide in at the left guard position for the Titans, replacing Steve Hutchinson, who officially announced his retirement on Tuesday.

Levitre was widely considered the top available interior lineman in free agency, and Tennessee was quick to move toward a deal during the three-day negotiating window that was held prior to free agency opening.

The Titans might not be through repairing the offensive line, as the right guard position is still unsettled. Both Leroy Harris and Deuce Lutui are free agents, and Tennessee could draft or sign another lineman as well.

In other Titans news, the team elected to release safety Jordan Babineaux and guard Mitch Petrus.

The Titans also are hosting Detroit Lions free agent defensive tackle Sammie Lee Hill, and a deal with him could come as early as today, according to sources.
